Experience:
Following university I became a Teaching Assistant, I have experience within both a mainstream school setting and special educational needs environment.
In addition to the time I have spent in paid employment with children I have 15 years experience as a guide leader. I have worked with children from 6 months to 16 years, in a range of settings and responsibilities. I have worked as a camp councillor in America, from this I returned home to get my guide holiday licence. I am now able to take the Guides away on adventure holidays where my role can be as either guider in charge or as the first aider.
My enthusiasm for working with children comes from my mother who worked as a child minder so from an early age I would help with the younger children in the house.
I held a temporary nanny post for 8 weeks, establishing a routine for an 18 month old boy and helping with his sister, a 4 1/2 month old girl struggling with feeds and starting to wean her onto solids.
My previous position I held for 6 years as a nanny for twin boys and their elder sister. I started with the family when the boys were 3 and finished last month as the boys reached an age where they no longer required a nanny.
I am an active person who loves outdoor activities such as camping, walking &. hiking, kayaking & canoeing and bike riding, skiing and snowboarding to name a few. My hobbies include growing my own fruit and vegetables, reading and I am learning to play the piano.
